What if I told you that the best way to achieve your dreams does not begin by setting goals? To get things done and take steps toward where you want to be; you should focus on developing daily systems.
A system is a series of processes created to help you focus on what needs to be done each day and the best way to do them, without having your eyes set on the prize.
Develop a strategy to accomplish today. For example, if you are a small business owner, your goal could be to build a successful and profitable business. Your system, on the other hand, would be to focus on sales.
A goal-oriented mindset teaches you to put success off until a milestone is reached. A daily process will keep you focused on the present which is likely to make things more enjoyable. Remember: Focusing on small daily victories is the key to keeping yourself motivated.
Do you go back and forth from working to not working on a goal? This is very common and is known as the "yo-yo effect." If you develop a systems-based mentality, you are more inclined to stick to the daily process.
Time to create a spreadsheet! Develop the habit of writing down what you've learned from the process you've developed in order to create a "Feedback Loop." Doing so will help you better understand when to make adjustments to your processes.
Although goals can give you necessary push to get things started, committing to a well-designed system is what will take you to where you want to be.
